For me the act of painting itself is
an anamnesis, a recovering of sections of lost time. Time is an important
factor in making the paintings as they have been painted over a long period in order to map the many circular shifts and
fluctuations of remembered experience .I am
interested in exploring my perception and understanding of space and how
the material/physical domain effect, shape and colour understanding of the
ethereal/metaphysical plane .How nuance and repetition add to the total
experience and how when we become inured of our subject we can move beyond the
realm of logic into that of wonder. The paintings are a simultaneous
exploration of pictorial space and a repository for emotional events, recording
and rerecording to achieve a moment of perfect immersion. The work explores
through the painting process those deeply felt and remembered experiences that
have shaped my world.
